Charley Chau: prestige, lovingly-crafted bedding for cats and dogs

The Charley Chau homepage
A fresh project to create a Cath Kidston-esque website, selling a wide range of beautifully-crafted, bright and vibrant pet beds.

While working at www.tui.co.uk, I was lucky enough to be asked to take on a new-build project with the owner of Charley Chau, a website with the sole aim of selling beautiful, top-end snuggle beds and blankets for pampered pets.

I was tasked with building the site up, and creating the site's unique theme using the Blueprint base theme for Drupal base theme, based on the Photoshop wireframes and layouts I was provided with.

In fairness, this project was a tough one for me; it was the first time I had to really focus on creating a client's website to a specific brief, and with the guidance - and occasional beratings - of our fastidious designer.

About the project

This site is built on a Drupal 6 installation, with the Uberdrupal install profile, which sets a lot of the site's e-commerce options up straight out of the box; this was probably something of a false investment in the end, since I probably changed and tweaked the vast majority of the site's settings.

Hopefully, the late nights and hard work were worthwhile for the client; I'm very proud of this portfolio piece as, while I didn't make up the very lovely design, I think I learnt a helluvalot about the client- and project-management aspects of agency projects, which I hadn't really had any exposure to up until that point.

As always, please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, comments or criticisms.
