University refuses to do RIAA's dirty work

Just so you know: this page was imported from my old blog. Some pages were rather mangled in the process; my apologies if things don't quite look right.

The University of Nebraska has refused to name a number of students who the RIAA have accused of illegal file sharing, saying that the University didn't think it had any role in doing the RIAA's work for them.

Personally, I know copyright theft is a problem - of course it is - but I'm pleased to see an organisation taking a stand against the bullying tactics of large organisations such as the RIAA.

Until the anti-copyright theft movement starts to reach some level of maturity and experience, we need more people to make a stand to prevent end-users being made into public examples with massive penalties they can never pay.

Everything written here is my own non-expert, un-planned and usually daft opinion. As a result, you shouldn't take any notice of what I'm saying. Ever... ;o)
